Site-specific performances

Staged in Easterhouse’s swimming pool, Social Event was a sculptural and performative event, immersive in the most literal sense of the word. Performances took place in and around the pool. The sculptures floated and were submerged, with the public observing the works from the water. The artists responded to the political history of the public swimming pool, the context of health and recreation, as well as issues relating to the body and gender by producing diverse works that required activation through public participation, both directly and through more subtle means.

Performance created and performed by STASIS (Wet Mess, Isabel Palmstierna, Paloma Proudfoot and Aniela Piasecka – lead artist)
